As You Love Your Neighbor

Dear Members of the St Paul Stake:

Over the past many days I have had multiple conversations with individuals and community leaders in Saint Paul about the effect that the most recent protests have had on people's lives.  We are now over a week after the first protests and life has not returned to normal for those that live close to the areas affected.

There is still a need for help.  This help can be given by volunteering time, supplies or financial resources.  This type of help is best provided by individuals and families - so we as a Stake are not going to formally organize, but if you feel so inspired please act on those prompting and serve.

There are multiple organizations and groups that are doing great work but I wanted to highlight two:

• We Love St Paul - This is the Charitable Arm of the Chamber of Commerce that is looking for financial donations to help local businesses rebuild.  Here is a LINK to their website.
• Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the Midway  - This is a Lutheran Church that is doing pure Christian service.  If you are looking to volunteer time or supplies, check them out on Facebook at Bethlehem Lutheran In-The-Midway.

Please keep in mind, I know that the largest Protests and Riots were in Minneapolis but Saint Paul had some serious damage and these two organizations are providing great service in Saint Paul.

On a different note of service, the St Paul Stake is organizing to have multiple blood drives over the next few months.  There will be a separate email sent to the entire Stake shortly that will give some additional details about how to participate in these blood drives.  This is a cause that is personal for me.  I will continue to donate blood whether or not a blood drive happens.  With the ongoing pandemic, some are concerned about the blood supply throughout the summer, so our blood drives will be scheduled to happen throughout the summer.

I believe that one of the best ways to show our love to our Heavenly Father is by truly loving his children.   At this time we can act upon this belief.  I know that each of you will find peace and joy as you Love Your Neighbors.
