Message from Bishop Stoddard

Brothers and Sisters in the Twin Cities YSA Ward,

I hope you are all safe and well.  As we face challenges associated with the current pandemic and its effects, we need only turn to the Savior for comfort and peace.  The Savior is always waiting for us to "hear [his] voice and open the door" so he can come in (Revelations 3:20).  He knows each of us personally, along with all our concerns and our fears.  He knows us and can comfort us better than anyone; His comforter is the Holy Ghost.

As turmoil and chaos swirl around us, we can gain strength from the Lord.  In Matthew 11:28 he promises that if we who are "heavy laden" come unto Him, that He will give us rest.  I believe that applies as much to emotional burdens as physical burdens.  When I feel challenged and discouraged, I take comfort in the words of the Lord to Joseph Smith, while in Liberty Jail.  "My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.  Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands." (D&C121:7-9).  I look forward to the time when we will again meet as a ward and rejoice together, as Alma did when re-united with the Sons of Mosiah (Alma 17:1-2).

During this period apart, I have learned how much I miss meeting with and gaining strength from all of you.  You are valiant sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven.  I am grateful for the opportunity to serve among you.

You are Always in my Thoughts and Prayers!!
