Dear Friends of Anoka MN Stake,
This is a reminder of Food Drive taking place this weekend on October 8th. We hope you will "Love your Neighbor" by participating and inviting a friend to participate.
Many of our neighbors are in need of food, while community food shelves report they are unable to fill the needs. Here is an opportunity to help. The Food Group of Minnesota has partnered with the Anoka, Lakeville, Minneapolis, and St. Paul Stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to collect food for our neighbors in need.
The Food Group has found that just eight essential food items can provide the base for a nutritious and culturally connected diet. These items are:
- (Long Grain) White Rice: 1 or 2 pound bags
- All-Purpose Flour: 5 pound bag
- Canned Tomatoes: 15 ounce– Sauce, Diced, Stewed, Crushed, Whole, etc
- Vegetable Oil: 24 ounce bottle – Olive or Canola
- Canned Chicken or Tuna: 5 ounces
- Salt & Pepper Shakers: Combo pack
- Spices: ¾ to 4 ounce of Garlic Powder or Granules, Onion Powder or Flakes, Chili Pepper Flakes
- Can Opener: any type
You may choose to contribute any or all items; every donation helps to feed a neighbor in need. Attached is a flyer with more information that can be used to collect food and invite others to join us.

On October 8th there will be several locations that will be open to receive food donations to be used to create essential meal packages (from the list above). You can drop off donations at the locations below:

Next week, The Food Group will distribute this Saturday's donations to community food shelves throughout our region. In support of our efforts, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints will deliver two semi-trucks full of additional food to The Food Group in coming months, which will also be distributed to community food shelves. Together we can make a difference in the fight against hunger!
Please join with us in our efforts to eliminate hunger in our community by delivering these food items to our buildings this Saturday!
