Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Two weeks ago on Feb 18, 2022, the First Presidency issued a pandemic update letter (attached). In this letter the First Presidency is "encouraging Area Presidencies, in consultation with stake presidencies, to determine on a local basis whether masks should be worn, or other precautions should be observed in the various Church meetings and activities."
After considering counsel provided by our Area Presidency, we are no longer urging the use of face masks in our sacrament, second hour meetings, and other activities.
We are grateful for the sacrifices of members during the nearly two years of the COVID-19 pandemic in following prophetic and other local guidelines. We recognize those we have lost during these two years as well as those who have been sick during this period. We are also grateful for the many blessings we have received during this time.
We are working with our bishops on the rollback of adjustments locally and they will provide additional details in each ward.
Members should feel comfortable continuing to wear masks if they prefer. We ask that you continue to be considerate of those who cannot yet be vaccinated or are otherwise at high risk for illness. We anticipate wards will continue to offer some socially distant seating. We also encourage those who have not been vaccinated to do so (GH 38.7.13).
We invite all members to return to our weekly essential sacrament meetings to partake of the ordinance of the sacrament and in worshiping together as saints to remember our Savior Jesus Christ and His gospel.
We are grateful for your patience and understanding as we have sought to provide a safe environment for all to worship the Savior Jesus Christ in our meetings. Please contact a member of your bishopric with any specific concerns or needs.
With Love,
The Anoka Minnesota Stake Presidency
