Dear Ward Family,
Bishop Oelkers bore testimony today about the importance of back-to-school father's blessings in his family and in his life personally. At the beginning of Sunday school I provided some instruction regarding father's blessings at Bishop Oelkers request. Recognizing that many members were not present at our meetings today, I want to provide this email.
Every child in the church, pre-K through college, has a right to receive a father's blessing at the beginning of the school year. Every father in the church has a right and a duty to bless his children. We encourage every family to ensure that each child receives a father's blessing as they return to school in the coming week.
If the child's father is not available or is not comfortable to give a father's blessing, he or the child's mother (or other family member), may contact their ministering brothers, the elders quorum presidency, or the bishopric to assist.
We hope you may have memorable experiences in your homes and that your children may enjoy blessings through the power of the priesthood.
Warmest regards,
Kelly Edgington
